Our History

JCP Marine is a modern family business founded by Dr Julian Brown.  We started out in 1987 as oil and chemical tanker expediters, later becoming a printing company offering marine safety signs and posters.  By the mid 1990’s our focus had shifted to marine surveying for the insurance market.  In recent years we have added drone surveying, for both marine and non-marine clients.  Our presence in dispute resolution has steadily grown over the past 15 years with respect to arbitration, mediation and trade representation.

Our shipping and seafaring roots date back to the early 1800’s.  Three generations of Brown’s served as Regimental Sergeant Majors in the Royal Marines.  David Brown (second son of R H Brown, Dr. Brown’s grandfather) was seconded to and served in the Royal Navy on board HMS Girdle Ness as a mathematician.  Dr Brown served in both the merchant navy and the Royal Naval Reserve.
